Damage Assessment Class Print E-mail

Olathe Emergency Management is sponsoring a Damage Assessment class for Olathe CERT and ECS members on Wednesday June 30th at Olathe Fire Admin, 1225 S. Hamilton Circle starting at 6 PM.  The class should be over by 10 PM. 

The class will be composed of two parts:

(1) a presentation on the EF Scale and how National Weather Service (NWS) does damage assessments after storm damage is reported. This portion will be taught by Andy Bailey, Warning Coordination Meteorologist, from the NWS Office in Pleasant Hill, Mo. and

(2) a presentation on how to do Rapid Assessment of damages that will assist local government in sizing up the scope of a disaster.  If you are interested and able to attend please register via email at  This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it  or call 971-7943.

Spotter Credentials Update Print E-mail

To: ALL ECS Members (Please read carefully) –

 

For NEW ECS Members -

 

Those NEW ECS Members who have taken this year’s ECS spotter test (and who have not otherwise been contacted by ECS) should plan on having ID badges made (including your picture) on Saturday, April 3 at the EOC (111. S. Cherry St., Olathe, KS) . You should be there between 0800 and 1100 hrs. If you wish to wait, the IDs should be available during that time frame or we can mail them to you. Call-in will be on the ECS repeater. There are two entries and details will be given on this call-in frequency. Shirt orders should also be ready.

 

For Existing ECS Members –

 

If your ID badge does NOT expire, there is no reason to make a new ID and thus, no reason for you to have a new ID made on this date. If your badge DOES, expire, please attend between the hours listed above to have a new ID made.  If you have ordered an ECS shirt, we will have these available for pick-up as well. Please call-in on the repeater and we will allow you access to the EOC.

Download the latest protocol guide, and you should be able to complete your spotter test before you show up on Feb 27 .
