AMATEUR RADIO LICENSE CLASS WITH EXAM

Our most recent Ham Cram was a success!

Eleven people attended the educational session. Seven of them passed
the Technician exam. If you missed our Ham Cram, go ahead and download the study material below and begin to study.

The next Ham Cram will be held soon in Independence, KS in the basement of the Judicial Building

The Independence Amateur Radio Club will will hold a one day "HAM CRAM" course a day soon at 8:00 am with an optional lunch break,
12:00 am - 12:30 p.m. It will be held in the basement of the Montgomery County Judicial Building, 300 E. Main in Independence, KS area. The VE (volunteer examination) will follow at 3:30 p.m. at the same location.

The course will provide participants with everything they need to know
to pass the "Technician level" FCC exam. The course makes no attempt
to go beyond the minimum required by the FCC. If the Student studies
the pages provided before taking this class, and reviews Ohm's Law (E=I*R), experience indicates that they may be able to obtain their
FCC No Code Technician License in one day.

(If you are already a licensed ham and you want to join the Ham Cram
to study for an upgrade you are welcome to attend. Please bring your
own study material for any upgrade.)

All of the possible questions and the answers for the Technician Class license are available here for down load.

Below is an optional study guide which has some sample exams:

To obtain an edge and be better prepared, participants are encouraged
to review any license manuals and the above listed questions.

With a FCC No Code Technician Class License, one may participate in Amateur Radio, and have full privileges at all frequencies above 50 MHz. This includes repeaters, all of the new digital modes, HAM satellites,
and Weather spotting.

In addition to radio communication privileges gained from your first
radio license, opportunities to assist disaster relief emergency communications and severe weather coordination are also available
which can be fun and rewarding. Groups like A.R.E.S. (Amateur Radio Emergency Services), SKYWARN and others provide important public services.

A new technology available to new hams, of particular interest is that
of APRS. This allows you to transmit the coordinates of your vehicle allowing the position to be displayed on the internet. Another great
tool for weather spotting.

There is no charge for the Ham Cram.

There will be a charge of $14.00 to take the VE exam. You will need to bring two IDs. All levels of exams will be given during the VE examination.

The independent examiners will provide participants with pass or fail information on the spot.

If you want to become a HAM call Bret Chilcott at 620-325-2538 or email at info@indykshams.org.

Talk in will be on the Independence repeater of 145.490- .
